The Unicus Mathematics Olympiad (UMO) is an international competitive exam conducted for Class 11 students. Students are challenged to use their mathematical skills in complex ways to compete in this exam. It is structured differently from the traditional school curriculum to encourage students to develop advanced problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
The UMO exam provides a platform for students to test their higher-level mathematics understanding by preparing them for national and international competitions. It is an excellent opportunity for students to refine their mathematical talents and gain recognition, while also preparing for future academic challenges, such as competitive entrance exams and higher education.
The UMO is conducted online, allowing students to participate from the comfort of their homes. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions covering various Class 11 mathematics curriculum topics. The syllabus of class 11 covers the previous 2 classes passed by the student.
The exam duration is 60 minutes. Students will also get three mock tests (including a free trial) to practice before the final exam. Each mock test can be taken up to three times. The exam is divided into two sections:
Classic Section includes questions related to practical applications of Mathematics.
Scholar Section includes questions on High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
The Unicus Mathematics Olympiad (UMO) syllabus for Class 11 is designed to test students’ mathematical knowledge and ability to solve complex problems beyond the regular school curriculum. It includes advanced topics that help students prepare for other competitive exams as well as regular school studies. Through diverse and challenging questions, the UMO syllabus encourages students to think critically and apply mathematical concepts easily. Class 11 students are required to focus on logical reasoning, analytical thinking and the application of core mathematical concepts rather than rote memorization. For this, students need a strategic approach, focusing on deepening conceptual understanding and developing problem-solving skills. The UMO exam tests students beyond their regular studies so the preparation should involve mastering advanced topics with practice.
Students should focus on building a strong foundation by revisiting fundamental concepts and practising with a variety of challenging problems. UMO provides various preparation materials to help students get ready for the exam, including sample papers, practice questions, and study guides. These resources are designed to give students a thorough understanding of the exam pattern and the types of questions they can expect. By regular practice of sample papers, previous years' question papers and practising questions, students can combine strong conceptual understanding with regular practice and confidently prepare for the exam.
