The Unicus Science Olympiad (USO) is an international competitive exam conducted for Class 1 students. This exam stimulates curiosity and builds essential science skills in young learners. This Olympiad introduces students to basic scientific concepts, encouraging them to think critically and explore the world around them. The USO aims to develop observational and reasoning abilities through engaging questions and activities that help students understand fundamental ideas about plants, animals, the human body, and the environment. This early exposure to science fosters a love for learning in students and builds a strong base for future scientific exploration.
Participating in the USO provides Class 1 students with a chance to apply their knowledge in a fun and structured format. Students get inspired to have a deeper appreciation for science. The exam questions are designed to be age-appropriate and interesting, which encourages students to use logic and basic analytical skills. This competition also allows them to experience an exam environment at an early age and build confidence to tackle complexity.
The USO is conducted online, allowing students to participate from the comfort of their homes. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions covering various Class 1 science curriculum topics. The syllabus of class 1st covers the topics of pre-primary classes.
The exam duration is 45 minutes. Students will also get three mock tests (including a free trial) to practice before the final exam. Each mock test can be taken up to three times.
The exam is divided into two sections:
Classic Section includes questions related to practical applications of Science.
Scholar Section includes questions on High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
NOTE: Please note that the exams for class 1 will be parent/teacher-assisted.

Preparing for the Unicus Science Olympiad USO for Class 1 can be a fun and interesting experience for young students. At this stage, students can focus on understanding and enjoying basic science concepts through everyday examples and activities easily. Rather than memorising facts, they benefit from learning to observe their surroundings and ask questions, which fosters curiosity and builds foundational skills. Simple topics like plants, animals, the basic human body and our environment form the core of the syllabus and make it easier for young students to relate to what they study.
Parents and teachers play a crucial role in guiding young students as they prepare for the USO through regular practice. The USO provides various preparation materials to help students get ready for the exam, including sample papers, practice questions and study guides. These resources are designed to give students a thorough understanding of the exam pattern and the types of questions they can expect. They get introduced to basic science rules like plants, our environment, body parts, etc. By regular practice of sample papers, previous years' question papers and practising questions, students can easily improve their Science concepts. This approach not only helps them perform well in the Olympiad but also builds a strong base for future scientific learning.
